What you should know

VK Hydraulic Compact Loop-Jack

Our unique loop-jack is engineered to work in tandem, the right and left side models are differentiated by the position of the pump.

Prior to utilisation

Prior to utilisation, a visual inspection is recommended for the following components:

  • 3 stainless steel springs of 2 median swivelled hooks and a valve lever must be free of debris.
  • Hydraulic hoses must be in good shape and free of cracks or bulging.
  • The lifting and pumping pistons must be free of debris and deep grooves.
  • The 3 swivel hooks must be free of cracks.

Prior to the mounting of loop jacks

Prior to the mounting of loop jacks, workers must check the stability of scaffolds that must be assembled correctly as required by construction safety codes.

To prepare the working platform

  • To prepare the working platform, two operators must mount two loop jacks on both vertical posts of the scaffold by mounting the two swivelled median hooks on the scaffold side bars.

  • Two wooden boards (10” X 12′ X 2″ thick) must be placed on the horizontal bars of the loop jacks to form the working platform.

  • The main function of the VK HYDRAULIC COMPACT-LOOPJACK is to allow construction workers to use the whole height of scaffolds or system of scaffolds.

To raise the working platform

To raise the working platform, operators must perform in tandem the following operations:

  • Open the bi-directional valve (which is connected to the top connector of the cylinder and the reservoir) by depressing on the pedal of the self-return foot operated shaft connected to a bi-directional valve and simultaneously lift the hydraulic main shaft up to 30 inches of vertical travel length. During this operation the jack remains attached to the scaffold by one of the two median safety hooks.

  • When reaching the wanted height the main hook mounted on top of the shaft can be swivelled and connected to one of the side bars of the scaffold. For safety measures the safety cable must be connected to the side posts. The platform is now ready to be used.

  • The platform can be raised to any desired position by pumping the self-return foot operated pump. At every 12 inches (distance between side bars of the scaffold) the two median safety hooks mounted on the cylinder will automatically swivel out and into the next side bar.

  • The operation cycle is 30 inches in vertical traveling which is the maximum designed traveling distance.

To lower the working platform

To lower the working platform, operators must inverse the operation sequence, always in tandem:

  • With the upper hook remaining attached to the side bar, open the bi-directional valve (connecting to the top connector of the cylinder and the reservoir) by depressing on the pedal of the self-return foot operated shaft connected to a bi-directional valve. This action allows the lifting piston to slowly descend. During this operation the jack remains attached to the scaffold by the top hook and one of the two median safety hooks.

  • When lowering the jack, with the jack remaining attached to the scaffold by one of the two median safety hooks, detach the safety cable and unhook the top hook by swivelling it out and reattach the top hook to one of the lower side bars. The safety cable must be reattached as well. The platform is now ready to be lowered again.

  • The operation cycle is 30 inches in vertical traveling which is the maximum designed traveling distance. During the lowering operation the pumps can be used to make small adjustments to facilitate the attachment of the top hook. The lowering energy is provided by gravity.

Safety of operating method

In order to safely operate it is important to apply the following safety instructions:

Position the jack vertically, attach the safety cable around the vertical side post, attach the top hook around the vertical post and on the side transversal bar, attach the two median hooks around the vertical post as shown in the photos to your right.

NOTE

The number of wooden boards can be double for a more stable platform.

IMPORTANT

Never lay the top hook on the wooden board as shown in the following picture; this position of the top hook can swing the lifting piston out of vertical position and drop the jack down.
